I recently bought a Samsung Write-master 20X DVD writer. When I try to install certain software or games from CDs or DVDs, I get a " file is corrupt" or CRC error, installation cannot continue type or erroes. These very CDs or DVDs work fine without any error messages on my friend's system.

Is it a problem with my writer or some other hardware or software problem?I'm on Vista Home Premium/

Your new Samsung DVD writer may be faulty if the discs works fine on a different PC.
What you need to try now to confirm this is to hook up a different DVD-writer (or even just a reader) to your PC to see if those same discs
install okay. If they do, it's definitely the Samsung unit that's faulty.
