Hi Folks,

This is my first post here and I'm wondering if someone might be able to help figure out why Excel wants to start automatically and then posts an "error" because it can't. I am not aware that Excel is in my startup.

Also, when I go to shutdown, numerous programs seem to "hang" and they need to be "ended now" before it will shut down. Sometimes there are up to 6 or so programs that seem to hang and I can't figure out why.

I can post my Hijack This! log if that helps.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,
Fred

Click Start then run.
Type in msconfig and click the startup tab.

Do a search at google .com for each startup item,
or post them here and I or someone can tell you how to stop the startup items you don't want.
Google should have in it's results on the first page a site that tells you what those startup items are.

You can do the same with the services tab.

Then let's figure out why all these things are happening on your computer.
And stop them from happening.

Thanks for your help! Is there an easy way to copy each entry under Startup and Services, or do I need to enter them by hand one at a time?

Fred

You can use this screenshot program and make a picture and upload it.

When saving the picture, save it as png file. that's portable network graphics. Makes for better uploading.

Okay, here are the links to the files. One is a png and the other is a jpg. They're both the same though.
