Other Random Info-

I cannot run Windows Media Player. Something about low memory. Right clicking is broken, and I can't cut and paste. I don't have a bar at the bottom of the screen. I didn't have a START menu until I made MY DOCUMENTS into my bottom thing.

I have this thing at this time SVCHOST is making my CPU at a hundred percent active and something about an RPC Error. I "fixed" this is that through START- RUN- shutdown /a

But it always starts itself when I restart.

since you have the windows install cd, you can, if you choose, do a format and clean install. If you want to save your data...you need to look for another solution. Did you try http://housecall.tre....com/housecall/?

for the active x problem you mentioned, try

open Internet Explorer, click "Tools" at the top, click "Internet Options" and select the "Security" tab. Now click the "Custom Level" button at the bottom and set your settings to match this.

Download signed ActiveX controls......Prompt
Download unsigned ActiveX controls...Disable
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe....Disable
Run ActiveX controls and Plugins....enable, or prompt for even more security
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting....enable
File Download.... enable

Thanks Jonnyrotten, I copied this from a post you made so I didn't have to type it myself....saved me some keystrokes!

I have once again tried Panda and the TrendMicro idea. I have once again.. failed.

More updated news on how broken this thing is, I tried to use Spybot and something called Xuron55 stopped it from working.

Hey, Active X Controls still did not work, but my IE is really out of date. I would Google it, but I have a hard time accessing the web from my laptop. The only time I have internet is at my gf's house. What do you guys think of Veloz? And do you guys have any other suggestions?

Thanks for everything so far.

I have way too many threads to track...sorry I lost sight of this one...

Did we want to save this or start fresh?

Since you posted it, let's take one quick try at getting things up and running

You said Mcafee was hosed? Is that the case?

If so, I want you to check all of the following, then click FIX CHECKED, then reboot.

This will disable all of your antivirus--we will restore it later. Just want to get it up and running.

If I lose site of this again (got at least 50 threads I am tracking) , please PM me.

Its been almost a month and I half, can someone at this point give me a detailed instructions on how to format my hard drive? I mean as specific and detailed as possible. I don't know what a partition is and stuff like that. Also I no longer have the ability to play sound and other such things. Please help me put my computer out of its misery.

-Gary

P.S. Specific, I don't think you guys understand just how illiterate I am at computers... Unless its playing Unreal Tournament, then I am a Pro.

Do you care about anything on the machine?
