Hi. I Have an Acer Aspire 1520 notebook with xp media center and vista home premium. It has an LITEON SOSW-852S dvdrw. When I tried to put any type of cds the driver started rolling but didnt read any of the cds I put. I read on the web and it was a firmware problem. So I installed a firmware but my laptop froze in the middle of the installation. I shut my computer and then turned on the computer and my cd driver dissapeared from my computer and from device manager. The cd driver is appearing in the BIOS. I try deleting the registries but nothing happens. Please help me. Thank you!

Did you use an official Lite-on firmware or a third party one?
It would appear the firmware has cooked your drive.
