xp home edition ***cannot login***

does enybody knows why after i log-in windows i cannot move to desktop area?
screen goes blank and all i can see is my wallpaper.

Do you get the desktop if you right click the taskbar then task manager then file then new task then type explorer.exe in the box and press OK
