Shouldn't have to remove RAM and unplug hard drive on a brand new machine. This looks like a hardware failure on the hard drive. Claim under warranty.

i kinda figured as much
it was strange that removing RAM and unplugging harddrive would get it to boot up
but it worked ...how ever i did return it for repair under warranty
it was aslo on extended warranty.....so that helps
it has been my third computer that has vista installed
the other 2 work great.....
one i gave as a gift the other is a laptop used on trips
the other 3 are all windows xp
the windows 98 gave it a long permanant rest
thanks for responding
