:tazz: I ran an online scan of my computer through BitDefender, it found 2 trojans and 1 malware on it.. BitDefender was unsiccessful at removing them, i tried to manually remove them.. and then i would scan again, they were there and still are in my System Volume Information files.. i cannot get there to delete them...
Funny thing is.. i have ran a few different virus scans and non of them found the trojans or the malware. only BitDefender.
The Trojans that were found are:

Swizzor.BO
Backdoor.IRC.Based
Wheaterbug.A (not to be confused weatherbug)

i deleted them from where the scan originally found them.. but they are still in the system volume information folder

Is there anyone that can help me delete them?
Thank you,
Gwendie Draper

Hi Gwendie,

These are in your system restore archives. If you want to post a HiJackThis log in this thread, i will make sure that your PC is clean, so that we can then clear out the infected system restore points.

Regards,

Usetobe

Hi Gwendie,

We have some work to do on your log to get your PC clean, so here we go.

Please print out a copy of these instructions so that you have them handy when you need to reboot your PC

Firstly you need to create a new folder on your C drive (for example C\HJT). Install HJT into that folder and run it from there. That way it can create backups if required.

Next I notice that you are running 2 antivirus products. eTrust and Bitdefender. This is detrimental to your system, uses resources, can cause instability programs and they may try to compete with each other. Please remove one of them.

I would like you to carry out the following free on-line virus scan and follow their instructions on removal of anything that it may find.

Panda Active Scan

Next please download the following two programs. Install them and update them both. Then run each one and have them fix anything that they may find.

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3

Ad-aware S E 1.5

Open up HJT and rescan and Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake. Some of them might not be there as they will have been removed in previous stages of the sequence. This is normal so do not be alarmed

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.abeqvjuye...Olg96Sa2aIR.php

Ensure no windows are open apart from HJT and click FIX CHECKED.

Download the following program.

Cleanup

Reboot into SAFE MODE by tapping the F8 key whilst PC starts up.

Set PC to show hidden files (Click link below if you do not know how

Show hidden files

Using Windows Explorer locate and delete the following files/folders.

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\APPLIC~1\CREATI~1\Funk Blue.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\file five active long\METASHIM.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\APPLIC~1\HOPEME~1\RefGreyRule.exe

Now use the Cleanup program to clear out temp files, junk etc.

Rebbot PC normally and down load the following free 14 day trial programme.

Ewido

Install it and then double click on the new icon for the program. You can't miss it, it's a big yellow E. It will ask you to upgrade the database. Follow the instructions.
Once it is ready click on the Scanner button, Select C drive if you have more than one and then start.

grab a cup of coffee, sandwiches, book and sleeping bag as this will take some time. Once the first problem is detected ensure you tick the box for all (bottom left) and allow it to continue.

At the end of the scan, it may ask if you would like to delete anything found in archive or zipped files, OK that request, then click on save report. SAVE to the default location, it will then generate a text file. Copy that to post in this thread.

Carry out another HJT scan and post the log back here, so we can sort out any remnants

Hi Gwendie,

The problem has been staring me in the face all this time. :tazz: You have a backdoor trojan that causes havoc with anti-virus programs and in particular Mcafee, we'll sort that out and get you up and running again in no time.

Rerscan with HJT and check the folowing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCUpdateExe] c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\McUpdate.exe

Ensure no windows open and click FIX CHECKED.

Set PC to show hidden files and using Windows Explorer delete the following files

c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\McUpdate.exe

Reboot PC normally

Run the following free online virus scan.

Trend Housecall

Close the registry editor.

Download and Run the following

Silent Runners
Unzip it to a permanent folder.
Start SilentRunners.vbs
When your antivirus is giving an alert, do not block this. Allow the script.
Copy and paste the content of the txtfile you get afterwards in your next reply.

Rescan with HJT and post the log back
