Laptop won't boot in normal/crashes in safemode

Sry for not responding all this time but I tried what I posted afew days ago, unfortunately I think the laptops drive is EIDE or something like that (not eSata) but I did figure it out.

I downloaded and made a live CD for Linux Knoppix and am transferring the files to my PC.
Knoppix is an awesome little distro of linux and seems to be centered around recovering files from other operating systems. Right "out of the box" it has all your memory attachments (any HDDs/partitions or flash drives) you have on the desktop.
From what I understand you can use Ubuntu to do what knoppix does but you have to type commands in ubuntu, in knoppix its all done with a graphical interface, all drag and drop.

Knoppix though is backing the stuff up.
