it finally happened. my computer got slow. i built my pc in january of '07, and now its starting to show its age. i am waiting a long [bleep] time for the computer just to start up. sometimes firefox doesnt even load when i boot it up. im not sure what to do. i have a lot of recommended programs, but do i need a hardware upgrade or is there some way i could make my pc a little faster like it used to be?
My specs: AMD athlon 64 4000+, 2gb of DDR ram, Geforce 7600GS pci-express graphics card, 320gb sata hd, 450w psu, and a machspeed MSNV-939 socket 939 mobo.
i know that i can newer parts for cheaper instead of trying to buy older ones.(i read the new maximum pc article and it did just that)
Please let me know if i can get some more life outta this baby

Hi hoopsman. I think it would be an excellent idea to make sure you have not picked up any malware before you do anything else. Malware is the cause of a lot of the slow downs people are experiencing with their computers.

Go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Please avoid posting in this topic until you've been cleared of malware in your topic in the Malware forum.

It's been 3 days without a reply now, so you can post in the Waiting Room :)
