This problem started on 4/9/08 almost 8:00 in the morning!! My husband typed in "utube" instead of "youtube" looking for something he saw on TV. From then on, we cannot get rid of the pop-up windows. I had "Fix-It", then got Norton, then got AVG! Worked over a week with AVG, sending files to them, running reports and everything, but they finally said they could not find it. I found this website by typing in the name of a file I found in Windows Explorer with the same date and time that all this started. MaxN1bo.log.....is this my problem??

I just tried to upload my hijackthis, but says I am not permitted to upload this type of file. As you can tell, I am not very computer savvy, but I have sent this same type of file several times to AVG through email. Is there something in my security settings?? How do I get it to you??? Thanks!

Hello deb

Welcome to the GeeksToGo Malware Removal Forum, sorry for the delay in responding, but the amount of people posting with infected computers is through the roof and we sometimes can't get to logs as fast as we would like to.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a Hijackthis log.

I need to see a HJT log, do it this way and delete the current copy that you have.

Download Trendmicros Hijackthis to your desktop.
Double click it to install
Follow the prompts and by default it will install in C:\Program Files\Trendmicro\Hijackthis\Highjackthis.exe

  • Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
  • Go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is Unchecked
  • Go to Edit> Select All.....Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by using the Post Reply and not start a New Thread.
DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Post the Malwarebytes log and a Hijackthis log please
