We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log

It's not showing that you have Service Pack 1 (I'm sure you installed it!) which isn't good. I need you to go to http://www.howtotell.com and click on "Windows Validation Assistant" and tell me what it says.

I don't have a valid product key. An ex-boyfriend built this computer and put XP on it and he worked at Best Buy so I assumed it was a legitimate copy but I don't know what he did. ;) I just bought a new computer so all I'm concerned about is if I can hook the two together and transfer my files over to the new one without infecting the new computer.

Are there certain files/programs I should avoid transferring?
Should I give up on this computer or is it still fixable?

It's amazing how an ex can still manage to come back to haunt you. :tazz:

Thanks!

It is fixable, but according to Geeks to Go policy I'm not allowed to help clean a system with an illegitimate copy of Windows :tazz:

I personally wouldn't hook the two together. I would just make a backup of the programs/files you want and load them on the other computer.

Make sure to get Service Pack 2 on your new computer immediately! Also, if your concerned about your other computer, you can always post a HiJackThis log from it to make sure!

Thanks bananafanafo! :tazz:
I understand about the policy and agree with it. It's encouraging to know that it's fixable. I'll be sure to get the 2nd service pack on the new computer and all the virus and spyware protection on before I put any files from this computer on it. I definately want to avoid all this again. Whew!
Thanks for your time!
