Problems since upgrading Ubuntu

Hi,

I recently updated to Ubuntu version 8.04 2.6.24-16, and since having done that, there will be times when the sound on my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop stops working for no apparent reason. When this happens, some windows start to freeze, and I can't restart the proper way, and have to use the power button. Upon restarting, everything is back to normal. This happens about once a day, but sometimes more. Before the upgrade, I would lose sound on my laptop, but not as often, and I would be able to restart the proper way.
