First, thanks for such an excellent forum! I've learned a lot over the past couple of days reading through the posts and I appreciate any help you can provide.

I've been hit with the Nail and Aurora programs and have worked through numerous steps to get rid of them (Adware, CWShredder, Spybot, NortonAV, ewido, FindIt). I 'think' (bad idea) I'm close to getting this resolved but can someone review my logs and verify my next steps. Thanks!!

Do I need to run Killbox on:
C:\windows\vlvxtc.exe
c:\windows\unspys~1.exe (not sure about this one)

Can you please download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Then post a HijackThis log (not attach) together with the log of the L2Mfix

And can you tell me if this is something made by you?
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tsvcin] C:\Documents and Settings\Eddie\n20050308.EXE

Thanks, I'll do those steps this evening since the problem is with my home PC.

Also, this is not my program and I haven't been able to get rid of it:

Good. When you get home upload
C:\Documents and Settings\Eddie\n20050308.EXE
at: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
and let me know those results as well.

Pieter

How long should L2mfix run? I got a couple of error messages after it rebooted and started running. It now says:

========
Killing explorer and Rundll32.exe
The system cannot find the path specified.
0 file(s) copied.
Scanning First Pass. Please Wait!
========
It's been running for 30 minutes....any ideas how long it will take? I'm worried about the initial error messages and the path message and that it may not be running.

Which Windows version are you using?

It can take a few hours at worst.

The L2MFix finally finished after about 8-9 hours. It looks like it may have had an issue with a compaq-rba.exe process since that process has been running a 99% CPU ever since. I've tried to end the process and I can't.

Here's the L2MFix log file:

Good job sofar. :tazz:
Sorry that took so long. So Compaq doesn't like it?
Hmmmm. Will try to figure that one out.

I would advise you to uninstall:
Viewpoint manager

Please make sure the changes should be allowed in AdWatch and SpySweeper.
Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Reboot into safe mode and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Post back with a new log.

Good. :tazz:
Now we're getting somewhere.
Clean out some leftovers and you should be good to go.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O2 - BHO: BolgerObj Class - {302A3240-4805-4a34-97D7-1645A0B08410} - C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll (file missing)

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Then reboot and check if they stay away.

Hi Hornfvr,

Very frustrating to see that mystery entry again in your log.

*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Standard File Kill option.
*In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file path below:
C:\Documents and Settings\Eddie\n20050308.EXE

After you did that check if a folder C:\!Submit was created and check if you can find n20050308.EXE inside.
If so upload it at: http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and let me know.

Regards,

I ran Killbox but it couldn't find a file. I rebooted and I think I messed up because my ad watch put up a block screen on this file and I accidentally selected accept instead of block :tazz: .
Also, I don't think that this has anything to do with it but I thought I would mention it. Everytime I reboot my computer my HP Photosmart software starts running as if it has never finished it's original install and finishes from the 98% to 100% install level. I don't think this has anything to with my problems but thought I should mention it.

Here is a new Hijack log file:
