i recently reinstalled my os so i could dual boot ubuntu 8.04 and windows xp pro. everything has been going fine so far, but recently, the problem i was trying to stray away from, has returned. when i startup windows, when everything has loaded, i go to play tribes vengeance, but when i click the icon, it registers my command, but then the computer just sits there, and the mouse has the hourglass near it forever. nothing loads. i have to hold down the enter screen on the icon, which means that even if i can get something to load, it opens up at least 2 of that same program, and with something like a game, my pc cant handle that and just freezes up, therefore having me to restart the pc. do i need a new hard drive?(im getting a new pc the week of june 23) is it my hardware? is my windows copy bad?
please let me know what you think is going on

Hello hoopsman...

Try this REPAIR to your installation of XP. This procedure will not damage or change your current files or settings...it will just repair or replace damaged system files. You will be asked for your Installation CD and may be asked for your product key. Follow the instructions carefully...print them out if you can. Note: This option is not always available on OEM Recovery Cd's.
