This is kind of hard for me to explain...I really don't feel like having to pay close to 400 dollars to own my own version of windows, it just seems like a waste of money with the economy so horrible. My friend was giving me this free almost like a trial version of windows, but you have to register in 30 days. Well, I didn't register, and i tried to reformat my hard drive, and reinstall windows with the same disk. Now it's saying that I need a service pack 2 disk, cause I'm missing asms.exe (I think it's an .exe file.)

I really want this computer to work cause it's my gaming pc, however I'm on my parents' pc that's never been updated...LOL!!!!!1

not illegal...there's a way to pay windows and register, but i can't get my computer to that point again cause it's saying that i'm missing asms...

You can purchase a windows xp SP2 upgrade cd for $90 that will solve your problem.
