I am attempting to fix this computer for someone else and to date have had no luck. My friend had Microsoft Onecare trial installed and I removed that to see if AVG anti-virus 8 can solve the problem. I ran the following programs and some of them gave me some luck with removing most of the problems:

A-Squared Free
F-Secure Backlight
Sophos anti-Rootkit

as well as the programs listed in the "Please read before posting" section.

AVG is still showing an error that it found Trojan Horse Downloader.Delf.12.AN and Virus Win32/Heur. It gives the option to remove the threads, but AVG will find these threats within 1 minute of cleaning the threats. It seems that the Trojan Horse Downloader.Delf.12.AN is connected to c:\WINDOWS\system32\bthcil.dll and that Virus Win32/Heur is connected to c:\windows\system32\dmdskmgrp.dll.

Please let me know if there is a topic that already covered my problems.

Hello

Please visit this web page for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt"

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Hello

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bthcil.dll
c:\windows\system32\dmdskmgrp.dll

Drivers to delete:
zostuvwi

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log by using Add/Reply

Hello

1. Please re-open HiJackThis and choose do a system scan only. Check the boxes next to ONLY the entries listed below(if present):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A07F6159-B4FE-4F9A-9CA1-65A6A967AFE0} - c:\windows\system32\dmdskmgrp.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {DD1FB235-9549-4820-8759-78164F894D9B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\bthcil.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ylyqiaos - dmdskmgrp.dll (file missing)

2. Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, including browsers, so that nothing other than HijackThis is open, then click Fix Checked. A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES. Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

Reboot and do this

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner and click Accept

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK

Hello

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

KillAll::

File::
D:\setupxv.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ddwovrgc.dat
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\zostuvwi.dat

Sysrst::

Registry::

Driver::

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt"

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Rorschach,

I have returned the computer to it's owner. I will instruct him to finish the action, however, I don't know that he has the ability to do much more. It seems as if the big problems are all gone now. Please feel free to close the topic, I can reopen it if he is still having trouble.

Thank you for all your help.
