Desktop Wallpaper Displays: Warning Spyware Detected on copmputer [CLO

Hello, I have a problem with my Dell Windows XP computer. It displays a blue wallpaper on the desktop that says: Warning: System Infected with Spyware, Install antivirus or spyware remover to clean computer. The ScreenSaver is also corrupted that shows little bugs crawling on the screen. When I go to Display thorugh Control Panel the Screen Saver and Desktop Tabs are missing. The bottom line is it is most likely malware and the company called Malwarepatrol Pro want me to buy their Malware Protector 2008, but I know that it is just fake. How do I get rid of this, so that I can return my desktop and screensaver to normal?

My name is Dave. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can sometimes take a while to research so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • I recommend you make a backup of any data that you have created, such as documents, pictures, music, ect... before we begin the fix.

Before we make any changes I need you to check out a file and run a check for Smitfraud.

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org, click on Browse, and upload the following file for analysis:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcp2wj0eefe.exe

Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned, and then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

If Jotti is too busy you can try these.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.


Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
