Ok I cannot go to certain websites. It started with paypal. When I type it in the address bar it send me to a google search of the website. Even if I follow the link of the google search it says IE cannot display page. I have looked under all the internet options and made sure it is not blocked, I added it to protected, and I checked the advanced tab option of all the SSL.
Up till today it has only been this site I have seen the computer do this. I am running AVG and not really experiencing other problems. Until I came today. I had registry mechanic on here and hijack this I was going to run the logs. Well I ran reg mechanic and it said something like 5000 errors found and I messed up and thought it was save and hit repair. I stopped it but I do want to state that the probs existed before but I am sure I did something wrong when that happened.

I did what was in the "Please read before you post" and the logs will follow. Problems occurred I could do everything except the panda scan. It says IE canot display page. I went and searched to find and it would not DL saying page could not be displayed. I found one that allowed DL but I click on icon after install and it says IE cannot display page. I have no clue.
For the most part my computer seems to be running ok. I have written to paypal but ha they tell me to go to their site and I cannot get to the site. What is sad is I dont even need to go. My mom asked me to check on something for her and I realized the page would not come up. Everything else comes up fine.... but this one page. Possibly others but I can access like bank stuff and that is a secure site and I can access everything else I go to and sign into ect, so dont think it is something of a secure site nature bu tI dont know.
Please help me find out why my computer is hating me? Thank you in advance for listening to all this.

I have logs from Malewarebytes and hijack this. The antispayware one said no infections.

I am not bumping my topic, but I do need some help. I know it is not something I have simply overlooked, because I have been wracking my brain as to why only certain sites will not come up.
Anyways, just wanted to say I would appreciate anyone's input on this. And thanks!!!

I DL DSS scanner from reading other posts about redirecting websites. Here is the Main and Extra text copies

Hello stachad and Welcome to Geeks to Go!

Sorry for the delay.
We've been quite busy this week.

Please read this post completely before proceeding with the fix.

Your AVG is outdated. Grisoft no longer support that version.
I will give you links and options later as malware can also block those sites for download.

First,

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Next,

Since it's been days since you last posted your log and you do not have a working antivirus software.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Finally,

Anti-virus is a necessity on this day and age. Please choose one from these free Anti-Virus softwares.
Note: Installing more than one anti-virus software can lead to system hang ups and conflicts, providing less protection, not more!.

INSTALL
Then
UPDATE

Once done, please post back with a new HijackThis log.

I updated my AVG to version 8 when I noticed it was out of date from my earlier posts. So that is done. I also did what you said and here are the reports.

Thank you so much for looking at this. I have not tried to go to the previous blocked sites as I am waiting to see if I need to do more. I have fixed my email address as well so I will get notifications in case I need to do more.
Thanks again for helping me.

Did you install a new Antivirus cause your AVG is outdated.

Next,

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
  • Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
  • Click the Scanning Control tab.
  • Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
    • Close browsers before scanning.
    • Scan for tracking cookies.
    • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
  • Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
  • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
  • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
  • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
  • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
  • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
    • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
    • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
    • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
    • Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
  • Click Close to exit the program.

Sorry for the wait. I'm having internet problems.
Anyways, I would like to look at this value.
Let's export it so we can have a better look at it.

Click on Start >> Run >> Copy/Paste text in code then press Enter.

cmd /c reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" >> keys.txt & notepad keys.txt

Notepad will open with contents of log.
Paste it on your next post.

Well hmmm.... I tried that and all I am getting is a c prompt window for like a flash of a second and then nothing else happens. No text box opens to post a log? I tried to restart computer and try again just to make sure but same thing. Is this good or bad?

I really need to take a look at that key.
Let's try this once again.

Please download DAFT and save it to your desktop:
  • Double-click the daft.exe icon.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • Select everything it is displaying there
  • Click the Fix button.
  • Then rescan with DAFT again - it should say now that "All associations are OK"
  • Close DAFT if you receive that message. This means that it is fixed now.

Next,

Please download Swreg by Bobbi Flekman
Save it to C:\

Click on Start >> Run >> Copy/Paste text in code then press Enter.

cmd /c c:\swreg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /s >> keys.txt & notepad keys.txt

Post back with contents of keys.txt

The daft log came up with 2 things which I find very interesting because someimes when sutting down my computer I would get a box saying a program was waiting to finish and it always said something like shellhiddenicon and this was what DAFT located and I checked both boxes and it fixed it here is log
DAFT Log saved on 2008-07-10 18:51:35

All associations okay!

Well I then saved the next file to local C: as requested and I noticed it had added some files not previously there. I never ran it. I copied and pasted what you said and got the same response the c prompt window for a second which vanishes and does not open a keys.txt. I even ran the exe file you had me save there and tried again to copy and paste into start and run and it does the same thing.

Should I restart and try this again as you did not say to do so and I did not but DAFT said all associations ok.
Thank you for working so much on this I really appreciate all you are doing.

Ok, let's just skip it.

Next,

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\Userinit.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.
Close HiJackThis.

Then,

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt

Please attach main.txt and extra.txt on your next reply.
