Hi lads and Ladies

Got an odd one for you!

My CPU Usage swings from the low percentages to 100% in a rythmic fashion. One cycle last about a second or two. Even when I am not running programs it does this. I have tried Norton Anti-virus and have made sure it was up to date. Yet nothing was found.

I will appreciate any ideas on what is happening!

Cheers <_<

Hi
Welcome to GTG

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Go to add/remove programs, and remove Wintools

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Sadly this has had no effect!

Also the Wintools would not allow its self to uninstall. I have tried closing everything I could, No joy!
Having a look at the processes in task manager it seems to be wintools and system idle process sucking up the CPU power!

Cheers

To start off, you have a CoolWebSearch infection.

Please Download CoolWebShredder from http://www.geekstogo...tion=show&id=17. Extract it & run the program. Click the Next Button & let it scan. Make sure you let it fix all CWS Remnants.

After that, you have a number of programs that don't need to be running. Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.websearch...e.aspx?tb_id=40
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch...e.aspx?tb_id=40

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WorksFUD] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\wkfud.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Image Transfer.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab

If you don't overclock your video card, fix this one as well:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

Fix this also if you don't need this:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Portfolio] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WksSb.exe /AllUsers

The Works Portfolio tool lets you collect and organize text and pictures from the Web or your favorite program. The Works Portfolio provides a location where you can store items you want to later put into a document or other file

If you don't want the Quicktime tray icon fix this one (it's using up your RAM):
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

Do you know what this is? If not, fix it:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PtLiveUpdate] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Pumatech Shared\5.3\LiveUpdate Client\PtLUWorker.exe

GoToMyPC is also a big resource hog:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [GoToMyPC] C:\Program Files\Expertcity\GoToMyPC\g2svc.exe -logon

Next, reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files and folders, and remove the following files in bold:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\ <-- This Folder

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log. <_<

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.websearch...e.aspx?tb_id=40
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch...e.aspx?tb_id=40

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold:
C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools <- this entire folder

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log. <_<

Sorry, I thought I did reply! But obviously not!

The wintools document was written as a protected document. It took the use of the Incinerator program to remove it.
But now that it has gone my computer runs a treat!

Cheers Girls and Guys!
