Hi,

I'm new here and hope someone can help me out.

A few weeks I started up my machine (XP) and when I tried to open a program I would get an error message stating Windows Explorer had encountered a problem and needed to shut down. The funny thing is Windows Explorer was not open. This was followed by an error message from Dr. Watson debugger. After these messages my computer would freeze up.

I ran virus scan (McAfee) and found there was a trojan in my system. I took care of that but the problem did not go away.

I looked for advice on another tech support forum and was instructed on how to disable Dr. Watson. I did that, but still get the error message for Windows Explorer. My computer does not freeze but it doesn't let me open anything, either from the desktop or from the start menu. Whenever I try to access something, I get the Windows Explorer error message. What could possibly be the problem? Please help!!
