Hello

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner and click Accept

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

When I try to do the Kaspersky online scan, it fails every time. I am online when I try to scan. Here is what it states:

(I'm using Mozilla because IE does not work.)

Program is starting. Please wait...
Update source selected: http://www.kaspersky.com
Downloading file: packages/kos-extras.jar
Program has started.

Program database is being updated. Please wait...
Update source selected: http://dnl-eu7.kaspersky-labs.com/
Downloading file: index/master.xml.klz

Update has failed. Program has failed to start. Close the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 window and open it again to install the program. You must be online to update the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7 database. With the latest database updates, you can find new viruses and other threats. Please go online to use Kaspersky Online Scanner 7. [ERROR: Update description is corrupted or not found]

Starting Java applet has failed! Please go online to use this program.

Hello

You have two firewalls, so you need to disable Windows firewall

1. Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
2. On the General tab, click Off (not recommended), and then click OK.

1. Please re-open HiJackThis and choose do a system scan only. Check the boxes next to ONLY the entries listed below(if present):

O20 - Winlogon Notify: clvbdusb - clvbdusb.dll (file missing)
O23 - Service: CWShredder Service - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\Ellie\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory 4 for CWShredder.zip\cwshredder.exe (file missing)

2. Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, including browsers, so that nothing other than HijackThis is open, then click Fix Checked. A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES. Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

Click Start > Run > Copy and paste the following in bold sc delete "CWShredder Service" > Click ok

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ftp34.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xFhOrtwa.ini2
    purity
    [start explorer]
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.

IE does not work. Every web page is redirected to a page that says this:

Insecure Internet activity. Threat of virus attack.
Due to insecure Internet browsing your PC can easily get infected with viruses, worms and trojans without your knowledge, and that can lead to system slowdown, freezes and crashes.
Also, insecure Internet activity can result in revealing your personal information. As a result, your bank account may be broken into, and your money may be stalen.
To get full advanced real-time protection for PC and Internet activity, register with WinAntivirusPro.
We recommend thant you protect your PC now and continue safe Internet browsing.
Click here to get full advanced real-time protection and continue browsing.
Continue to this website unprotected (not recommended).

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Please visit this web page for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Those links are for my husband's work at home job. So, yes, I do recognize those links. Thanks.

I'll work on the combo fix. (My kids are much less cooperative now than earlier, so this may take a while.) Thanks so much for your help. I'll post the logs when I'm finished.

I made a mistake because I was distracted. I hope I didn't do too much damage! Sorry! I did not install the recovery console. Let me know if I need to repeat the step.

Here is the hijack this log. I'll attack the combo fix log.

Thanks so much for your help. After we get this fixed, the first thing I'm going to do is make a donation! You've been so helpful.
