AVG FREE 8.0 Update manager is not working. Gives a General error - Not enough free memory, write error.
What to do?

scrap AVG
and choose one of these
AVG is losing popularity

they are lighter and better
wih updates to go with there program

For those who like AVG and want to keep it take a look at this article here for a solution that seems to work about 90% of the time.
I've had good success with it on over a hundred machines.

I agree with Mr Freeze.
I've been using AVG solely on all my machines for years, but ver. 8.0 is a pain. I ditched it.

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people were turned off by the 8.0 release, but I still like AVG and I imagine plenty of other people do as well. At least this way people have the option of fixing the issue and keeping AVG if they are so inclined.

I prefer programs, which I don't have to "fix" in order for them to run.
Since Avast, and Avira are free, and they're excellent programs, why would I waste my time, "fixing" AVG.
Also, AVG has been having all kind of other problems.
