Hi! This is with regards to the Zlob.DNSChanger.Rtk problem that keeps reappearing in SpyBot S&D (I've scanned multiple times and its still there). As I saw with the other posts, it seems to redirect you to other websites (mostly advertisements and in a fit of desperation, I tried to access porn sites and they don't work too , only obscure non-porn ones). It sure is quite a pain and I hope you guys will be able to help me. I came across your site as I was trying to find a solution for my computer problem. I do know that some threads have already been started because of this problem of mine but I did try to understand them but the more I read, the more I became confused . I'm more of a DIY guy and at first I was a bit hesitant to post a new thread (as I try and find solutions by my own and I know you guys are busy answering other threads) but I think this is going to be more complicated. I'm no computer expert that's why I went here. You people seem to be nice and willing to help. I do hope I get some solutions as my computer isn't used by me exclusively but also by family. Hi and thanks for replying! A few days ago I may have found a solution using "SmitfraudFix" and it seemed to work as I repeatedly scanned using Spybot and it did'nt find anything. I checked my system for any viruses using Avira and I also found nothing. Me and my family's been using the net for a few days now and everything seems ok. But still, I followed your instructions to be sure and got the following:

By the way, I followed the precautions on the "How did I get I get infected in the first place?" section and installed the recommended programs. I do think it helped a lot as Zone Alarm does block anything it perceives as a threat and SpywareBlaster protects me too. Again thanks for replying. You guys sure are a great help

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

• Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.

Congratulations, your log is clean!
We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

First,

Download OTCleanit then save it to your Desktop.

• Double-click on OTCleanIt.exe to run
• Click on the CleanUp! button
• Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
• You may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Next, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
* CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Then, let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:

• SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
• IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.

If you don't have one yet, you should install a good firewall. Here are 3 free ones available for personal use:

• Sygate Personal Firewall
• Kerio Personal Firewall
• ZoneAlarm

and a good antivirus (these are also free for personal use):

• AVG Anti-Virus
• Avast Home Edition

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

And to keep your system clean run these free malware scanners

• AdAware SE Personal
• Spybot Search & Destroy

weekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To keep your operating system up to date visit

• Microsoft Windows Update

monthly.
