On a website I'm working on, when I make the browser window width smaller, the text scrunches. For example, if it normally looked like this:

The dog and cat played together on Thursday for several hours.

When the browser window width is made smaller, it would look like:

The dog and
cat played
together on
Thursday
for several
hours.

However, on many websites, I see that when you make the browser window width smaller, the text simply goes off screen and a horizontal scroll bar appears. How can I get this to happen?

Thanks,

Try using this style:

overflow: scroll;

Also are you using containers or divs in the code?

Container or divs don't matter if styled correctly.
