HELP! My Pictures copies pics I delete

Hi - I am not a computer person and I am hoping someone here can help me. I am running XP on my cpu and when I try to delete pictures from *My Pictures* it deletes them BUT adds a copy back to My Pictures.

It's getting mighty crowded in there. lol

Anyone know which setting I need to change to get rid of this nasty little habit?
