Importing Audio with Adobe Premiere pro CS3

Before I loose my mind or toss out my computer.......Why can't I capture audio on some of my mini dv's, some work. I used a canon GL2. Could there be some setting on the GL2 that premiere doesn't recognize? I can see the video and can hear the audio in my capture camera.

Unfortunately, I don't own the GL2 so I don't know if some setting changed!

Anyone, please
