Our CD/DVD drive has never given us any problem. Suddenly, today, it won't play music CD's. It accepts and "reads" photo CD's, and text CD's, but it won't "read any music CD's. The CD goes in, the drawer closes, and the usual whirring you hear as the thing gets ready to come up on Windows Media Player does not happen. When I open My Computer, there is no icon for CD as there should be when a CD is in the drive.

I've tried using the Troubleshooter, but it asks me questions I cannot answer, such as whether or not my IDE/ESDI devices are working properly or if I even have them. I have no idea what those devices are or if I have them.

Anyone have any suggestions? And please bear in mind I'm strictly a user. A bona fide member of the Computer Dummies Club.

Thank you,
