My dad just purchased a LinkSys WRT160N "Ultra N" router. The box says that the minimum requirement is Windows XP or Windows Vista. However, he runs Windows ME. Is there any way to get this wireless router to work with Windows ME... or should we just return it?

The router itself doesn't know or even care what version of Windows you're using. The supplied software to configure the router probably needs XP but you can set the router up manually from any machine connected to it.

Thanks... I was looking at a similar thread on this and the user was unable to configure it manually with Windows ME:

I'd love to hear some more thoughts on this.

There are no issues with ME going online through a router.
Providing ME has a working network adaptor and a good cable, it'll be fine.

The only thing to remember is to refresh the IP address through ME is by going Start -> Run -> Winipcfg and clicking Release then Renew. Ipconfig does not work under Windows 98 or ME.

Well, we are currently online with our Windows ME machine using a LinkSys modem. Does this mean that we already have a "working network adapter"?
