I'm working my way through the "Must read this before ..." artical so that I can eventually remove AdzGalore. Everything is going well until I try to run the Panda scan. I'm using Firefox, version 2.0. I am also running WinPatrol. When the update of Panda is underway, I get an error message that reads, "Sorry, updating is incomplete due to an error. Please try again." So I did, same error. So I did it again, maybe five times, and after rebooting, same error. Any thoughts on how to get through this step? AdzGalore is the main issue, but this hiccup is giving me a headache.
Thanks

Hello trinitykid and welcome to Geeks to Go,
You can go ahead and skip the Panda step and just download Hijackthis and we will take it from there. :)

Click here to download HJTInstall.exe
  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

STEP 1
Please reopen HijackThis and click on Do a system scan only.And put a check next to the following entries.

O2 - BHO: adzgalore - {994B5FB4-0103-44A6-B6B3-C73572B362BC} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsq299.dll
O2 - BHO: adzgalore - {b4a997ee-52c1-1e4f-5196-ed700d763ce9} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsw2D.dll

Once you have the checks in those entries please make sure all open windows are closed(keep HijackThis open) and click fix checked on HijackThis. A box will open up asking if you want to fix the selected items, please click yes. After you have fixed those entires you can close HijackThis.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.

Hello trinitykid,

STEP 1
Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.
~~~~~~~~~~~
In your next reply please have these logs.
Only other issue is intermittent wi-fi cannot locate signal at home. Do a repair and most times it works. sometimes still no connection or can't even find network.
Thanks for all the help so far!
Hello trinitykid,
Only other issue is intermittent wi-fi cannot locate signal at home. Do a repair and most times it works. sometimes still no connection or can't even find network.
That does not look to be caused by any malware, after we are done cleaning up your computer I will give you a link to another part of this forum and you can post that problem there and someone there should be able to help you out with that.
Thanks for all the help so far!
No problem. :)
STEP 1
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components\nsBrowserGal.dll
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Please post the OTMoveIt2 log in your next reply.
