Lew,

Something is making your computer get reinfected. I see some things we removed a while ago. Let me think on this and look at it in depth and I will get back to you tonight.

Lew,

I need to bonk myselfin the head for not catching this. The reason for getting reinfected is because you are running HiJackTHis from the Desktop. Please create a new folder for it on your desktop (for example c:\Desktop\HiJackThis). Next move the HiJackThis.exe into the newly created folder. Then move on to the fixes below.

First dowload RapidBlaster and install/run the program. Fix anything it asks you to fix.

Run Sophos AntiVirus as describes in my earlier reply.

Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.

Select "Delete on Reboot".

Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\\icon.exe
O2 - BHO: Band Class - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - C:\Program Files\SEP\sep.dll
O2 - BHO: Band Class - {CC378B83-9577-44D0-B4F8-0DD965E176FC} - C:\Program Files\eSyndicate\esyn.dll
O3 - Toolbar: Band Class - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - C:\Program Files\SEP\sep.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [072V38X] ersctr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [weS.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\weS.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sais] c:\program files\180solutions\sais.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ejwnor] c:\windows\ejwnor.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [yxidwv] c:\windows\system32\jzdkyz.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Hwt9RUbsl] eliext.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [eZstub] Command /c del C:\WINDOWS\System32\eZstub.exe
O23 - Service: WinTools for IE service (WinToolsSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WToolsS.exe (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs (if present) in the Control Panel:

sais.exe
WToolsS.exe
Web Browser Component Manager
Win Tools Easy Installer

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Please delete these folders (if present) using Windows Explorer:

c:\program files\180solutions
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools

Also if you see a folder and you dont know what it is, and nothing important is in it, you can delete it.

Please delete these files (if present) using Windows Explorer:

C:\icon.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\\icon.exe
ersctr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\weS.exe
c:\windows\ejwnor.exe
c:\windows\system32\jzdkyz.exe
eliext.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\eZstub.exe

After that, Reboot.

Lew,

Killbox is a program that deletes a file(s) that keep coming back. We used it earlier to remove your nail.exe infection. But that infection has returned.

You can download Killbox here.

Then follow the directions from my lsat post.

well i got killbox from another topic and followed instructions.

so i went to safe mode and removed the file. so when i loaded back up normal, got a message saying, Windows could not find C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe. so i figured it was gone.

so when i went to run hijackthis (from the new folder i created), these files were not there;

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [072V38X] ersctr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [yxidwv] c:\windows\system32\jzdkyz.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [eZstub] Command /c del C:\WINDOWS\System32\eZstub.exe

in Add/Remove some i didn't recognize was

just for kicks, i decided to run AdAware SE to see would that stop the sluggishness of my computer. it didn't work

but some malware it did find was SEVERAL things that we had previously deleted with hijackthis

so maybe i didn't save the file right in the folder. this is how i got the new folder:

on a blank deskstop i right clicked, then went to new, then created a new folder named hijackthis. then i cut the original hijackthis from off the desktop and pasted in the new folder. the new path is

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\HijackThis

The old path while it was originally on was

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\

so is this the right paths?

Lew,

You moved HiJackThis into the correct folder. Do you know if you have Windows Service Pack 1? Or Service Pack 1a?

Lew,

Download Windows Service Pack 1a here,

This will prevent your computer from getting reinfected after we clean it.

Then post a fresh log for me to look at.
