Hi marc_randles,
If you are trying to run two AV programs at the same time, one will always fight against the other, you must uninstall one of them.

I only have this running on my pc
When I installed it said that AVG Antispyware needed to be uninstalled then it uninstalled it for me

Your problem might be this "As AVG Anti-Spyware and AVG Anti-Rootkit are now only included in commercial versions of AVG 8.0. Updates will soon be discontinued. " - from AVG.
If you are still interested in AVG protection, I recommend you to download AVG Anti-Virus.
