Looking at your system now, one or more of the identified infections is a backdoor Trojan. If this computer is ever used for on-line banking, I suggest you do the following IMMEDIATELY:

  • Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change ALL your on-line passwords for email, for banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, on-line companies, any on-line forums or groups you belong to.
Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passwords and transaction information. Please refrain from using this computer for online-banking/financial purpose until we give it all clear

Hello, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo...

I have the same problem (spyware box on the desktop) as the other user in this thread

It is really unwise to do that.. Each computer is different hence each infection is different.. You are lucky as your computer is still usable.. Please refrain to do such thing in the future..

I noticed that you already have OTMoveIt2.. So, lets do the following...

Please download SDFix by Andy Manchesta and save it to your desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
  • A new folder will be extracted to your %systemdrive%, typically C:\SDFix
  • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the script.
  • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt along with any other requested logs at the end of these instructions.

After running Deckard system scanner I just get the main.txt log. Is the DSS tool suppose to generate extra.txt log as well?

The spyware box on the desktop was still there after I ran the Malwarebytes, but as soon as I restared the computer the box is gone. So I am hoping that all the spyware/virus files are removed from my computer. I am able to change my wallpaper on the desktop, so that's good.

I have a McAfee anti-virus running on my computer. Do I also need an anti-spyware?

Thanks a lot for your help and prompt replies...

Yes, my computer is back to normal. Haven't seen anything suspicious happen since I ran the Malwarebytes.

If my computer is clean, is it ok to uninstall programs like Hijackthis, DSS, MalwareBytes, etc... Thanks!

Here is the DSS log - main.txt

If my computer is clean, is it ok to uninstall programs like Hijackthis, DSS, MalwareBytes, etc... Thanks!

Your log looks clean to my eyes.. You can uninstall those programs.. But I strongly suggest you to keep Malwarebytes'...

Now for some cleanup..
  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Click on the CleanUp! button
  • A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please Install/Update Sun Java

Updating Java:
  • Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs.
  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
  • It should have next icon next to it: Posted Image
  • Select it and click Remove. This will uninstall the previous (outdated) version of Java.
  • Then Download and install the newest version from here: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6

Let's clean your Restore Points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous Restore Points which are likely to be infected)
To create a new Restore Point.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK. This will flush your old System Restore.
  • Then please UNCHECK the Turn off System Restore.
  • Click again on Apply, and then click OK. This will create a new Restore Point
System Restore will now be active again

If you are using Windows Vista, please go HERE for tutorial on how to use, disable and enable System Restore

I noticed you already have:

1. McAfee Antivirus as your antivirus
2. McAfee Personal Firewall as your firewall
3. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware as your antispyware..

Lastly, to keep your operating system up to date please visit the link below monthly

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this excellent article by Tony Klein: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Please also read an excellent article by miekiemoes :Help! My computer is slow!

And another excellent article by CastleCops Malware Prevention: Prevent Re-infection

Please reply to this thread once more and tell us about the computer behaviour before we can close this thread :)

Have a safe and happy computing day!

Thank you for all your time, help and advice. I almost thought that formatting my hard drive was the only option to get ride of these spywares. But i guess you had some different ideas.

So far everything looks good and my computer is back to normal.

Thanks again.
