The other day I was attacked by the vundo trojan. What I would like to know is there a way to check something after it was downloaded but before you open it? If so, how and with what, please?

thanks

Hi there,

You can scan a file with your anti-virus program and/ or any anti-spyware programs you have installed. You should be able to simply right click the file in question and see an option that says "Scan selected files with anti-virus program name" (where anti-virus program is the name of which ever AV program you have installed, such as AntiVir or AVG.)

Alternatively, you can open your AV or AS program and there will be an option under scan settings to scan a specific file or folder.

If you suspect you're still infected or have harmful files on your computer, please read this thread. If you're still having problems or just want to make sure your system is clean, post a HJT log in the malware removal section of the forum, here.
