I have a HP desktop with dual boot with Win2000 on primary and Win98 on slave, did some maintenance deleting temp files emptying recycle defrag, etc. rebooted and get Failure Fixed disk 1 Error 0200, go into BIOS and neither drives are recognized. The primary has been making a lot of noise on boot but, calms down after a minute or 2 so I'm wondering if the drive is history. I tried booting with Win2000 disk in and still get same error. Where do I go from here or should I wave the white flag and go buy a laptop? :)

Sounds like the drive is toast.
You don't need to replace the entire machine, you can buy a new hard drive on its own.
However you would need to put a new copy of Windows on it.
