Gears of war freezes!

Guessing u guys are more experienced than me...help me this out.
Just bought:
Amd Athlon 64 5600+
4gb RAM
Geforce 8600 GT 1024mb

installed some Windows xp x64

got Gears of war...

and it freezes after a few minutes playing. I tried updating with the title patch, with the live 1.2 update, and changing the FFFFFFFF thing in the regedit etc.
I did it ok, i checked. Reboot and everything. Also tried to play in low quality.

And nothing, still freezes. Some idea? Can it be the windows x64?

Ok, i got it. Nothing worked. Nor the updates, not the reinstalling, not the several fixes people invented...
It was a problem with windows live. So i uninstalled it. Then i downloaded the latest, installed, and worked!

Forget the so called "final fix", gives you an error message and crashes faster than without the fix...
