Hello. I recently picket up a trojan that was detected by Ad-Aware identified as Win32.TrojanDownloader.NewMedia. Stubbornly, I tried to solve this by myself and attempted to remove this(in safe mode) with SmitFraudFix(version from 7/5/2008). Although Ad-Aware does not detect it any longer, i am experiencing high CPU usage around 50-60% with no apps open. Several processes are taking up huge chunks of memory, notably Mcshield.exe and svchost.exe. I fear I have lingering effects due to a partial cleaning and probably a lingering trojan. ty in advance.

I ran PandaScan and it detected Rebooter.J but I was not able to proceed to the removal point...log to follow on rescan

I am running Windows XP, McAfee Security Center, and used Ad-Aware for detection.

EDIT: I was trying to get rid of an annoying "/program files/Common" folder that was popping up at startup by removing adobe's auto-update program and got the error message that I was not authorized to make these changes...I selected Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services...after reboot, the %CPU usage issue has cleared. I did not resolve any of the trojan issues from these scans, however. It was odd when I was checking the startup programs that HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run was not selected to run at startup.

Hi,

i am experiencing high CPU usage around 50-60% with no apps open. Several processes are taking up huge chunks of memory, notably Mcshield.exe and svchost.exe

This is no malware issue.

EDIT: I was trying to get rid of an annoying "/program files/Common" folder that was popping up at startup

Hi lenny4,

Not sure if you are still monitoring this thread, but I was wondering if you would be willing to try something out for me?
It's a script I wrote to get rid of that side-effect of an incomplete removal of DeepDive.

Thanks in advance,
