missing sound?

hi all i wiped my fathers in laws pc and re-installed winxp pro which is fine but now there is no sound and also when i scroll on web pages it is all jumpy...ive put a tick in the box in settings which enables smooth scrolling but still the same. please can someone help me

Hello toffeymen23...

Sounds like you need to install drivers for the hardware you have installed. Right click on My Computer and choose "Properties". Click on the "Hardware" tab, then the "Device Manager" button.

In Device Manager, do any of the listed devices have a yellow ? or ! icon displayed next to them?
