Hi there did you uninstall Avast! or something? The log shows that files from it are missing...

Please open HijackThis again and choose "Do a system scan only". Please put a check next to each of the following entries (if still present):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://sandeep-verma.blogspot.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Sandeep Verma
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\snake.exe.vbs
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: @xpsp3res.dll,-20001 - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing)

Now please close all open windows except HJT and press "Fix checked".

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\snake.exe.vbs
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe
    emptytemp
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
Note:These logs may be too large to post in one reply, if so, please post extra.txt in a seperate reply.

Hi again,

We still need to disable it temporarily as it can conflict with our fixes.

You have a few worms that spread through USB drives, do NOT use your flashdrive or USB drive at the moment, please tell me in your next post if you already have used it and/or if you have a USB device/Flashdrive

First thing I need you to do is uninstall this old version of Hijack This: HijackThis 1.99.1

Then,

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Close Hijack This.

Next,

Fix these entries with Hijack This again

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://sandeep-verma.blogspot.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Sandeep Verma
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\snake.exe.vbs
O9 - Extra button: Research - {92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263} - (file missing)

Now please open Notepad by going to Start > Run and typing Notepad.exe in the window that pops up. Press enter and in the notepad window that appears Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+P) the following:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{2cde290d-61a0-11dc-a060-0019d20c59c6}]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{89d7251b-54b5-11dd-a33e-000fb0cea8b6}]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{eb05ce22-7de5-11dc-a0d8-000fb0cea8b6}]

Note: it is important to copy this with the spacing left as it is, also make sure "REGEDIT4" is the first thing in Notepad (No spaces ahead or anything).

In Notepad click on the "File" menu > Save As... Under "File name" type Fix.reg and Change "Save as type" to All Files
Posted Image
Now double click Fix.reg. A pop-up will appear asking you if you want to import this to your registry click yes.

Then,

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Right click on the Avenger.zip folder and select "Extract All..."
  • Follow the prompts and extract the avenger folder to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Begin copying here:
 Files to delete:
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\SSVICHOSST.exe
 C:\WINDOWS\SSVICHOSST.exe
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\snake.exe.vbs

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, open the avenger folder and start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon.
  • Right click on the window under Input script here:, and select Paste.
  • You can also click on this window and press (Ctrl+V) to paste the contents of the clipboard.
  • Click on Execute
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Delete", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger's actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a new DSS log.

Did the avenger log get cut off or did you leave out these two items?

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\snake.exe.vbs

Go into safe mode and look for the files manually, You may need to show hidden files, which you can do by following the instructions found here.

Delete them if present.

Fix these lines with Hijack This.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://sandeep-verma.blogspot.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Sandeep Verma
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\snake.exe.vbs

Reboot into normal mode,

Download GMER from here:
http://www.gmer.net/files.php

Unzip it to the desktop.

Open the program and click on the Rootkit tab.
Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
Click on Scan.
When the scan has run click Copy and paste the results (if any) into this thread.

Also let's see if MBAM picks it up. (Blind guess here)

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Re-run DSS and post back with the logs.
