I have not been able to use the internet. My IE is missing and the IP address. Yes, I did a ipconfig and got a media disconnected message and no IP address. I also did a ping to www.google..com and couldnt' find it either and I did the tracert and same thing. What is going on here? I installed IE7 and Opera and still the same thing.

:) :) Please help. I need to get this fixed asap i have online classes. No, i dont have the XP disk to reinstall. Below is the logs i was told to send as an attachment.

Hey zionsnana

Lets do this:
Download OTScanIt.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.

Note: You must be logged on to the system with an account that has Administrator privileges to run this program.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the OTScanIt folder and double-click on OTScanIt.exe to start the program (if you are running on Vista then right-click the program and choose Run as Administrator).
  • In the Drivers section click on Non-Microsoft.
  • Under Additional Scans click the checkboxes in front of the following items to select them:
    • Reg - BotCheck
      File - Additional Folder Scans
      File - Purity Scan
  • Do not change any other settings.
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Allow the program to complete its run, this may take a couple of minutes
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
This report will be quite large, you may have to split it into multiple posts in order for the whole log to be posted.

Hey zionsnana,
Sorry for the delay, I put you in the wrong place and overlooked you :)

There is a couple of registry helpers shown in that log, might want to stay away from that type of program.

Lets run this:
Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Once again, sorry for the delay.

Hey zionsnana,
I know there was a discussion about your machine in chat a while back, but I need to hear the details one more time.

When you boot that machine, and try to access the internet, what error do you recieve?
When did IE disappear, and were there any warnings at that time?
How is this machine connected to the interenet?

It disappeared about 3 weeks ago. When I try to access the internet it says page cannot be displayed. I use a usb wireless adapter. I think i switched to windows wireless network configuration and it stopped working (internet).What is up with the logs?What did you find.

Sorry I did not respond in chat there zionsnana, a little busy here :)

Lets look at something:
  • click start
  • click run
  • in the box that opens, paste the following:
  • cmd /k ipconfig /all
  • click OK
  • A black box will open with text in it, right click on it
  • choose select all
  • open notepad, right click and paste
copy the results and post it here please.
