Up to today I haven't had any trouble signing in to my Hotmail account using Window Live Messenger. Now it tells it has failed as the service is unavailable. However I can sign in using Windows Messenger and Via Live messenger on my other computer. I have tried uninstalling LM and reinstalling but still no luck

Any clues whats going on guys?

Just to let you know i have received the following from MS which has solved the problem.

We learned that one of the probable causes is about incompatibility with AVG 8.0 firewall. It has something to do with the Web Shield feature. If you have AVG 8.0 firewall installed on your computer, this may be the reason for this error and you need to disable the Web Shield component of the mentioned firewall.

To disable AVG's Web Shield component, follow these steps:

1. Open AVG User Interface.

2. Double-click on the Web Shield component.

3. Switch on the Instant Messaging tab.

4. Uncheck the Instant Messaging protection option.

5. Confirm changes by clicking on the Save Changes.
