Hi. I'm having fits with my laptop. It's gotten to where it lags really bad and is really slow on opening up programs, especially IE. IE sometimes runs really high on the Memory Usage, sometimes over 90,000K. So, I've tried going in under safe mode to run my virus protector/adware programs and so on. It crashes and will not let me do anything. It just goes off, so I have to restart the computer. After about 10x doing this, I'm not attempting it no more because something just isn't right. So, here I am on the forum hoping to get some help.

I was in the geekstogo chatroom and was instructed by Monk/Wizzy/da_Rat(I hope I have these names right!) to the forum "you must read this before posting a hijackthis log, malware cleaning guide". I've followed it step by step :

atf cleaner--done
system restore is turned off--I turned it off earlier
scanned for spyware/adware using SUPERantispyware, downloaded it today
scanned for viruses/trojans...had 1..deleted it, downloaded avast! I had AVG but deleted it prior to downloading/using avast!
all windows updates are up to date, checked that
rebooted
and now the hijack this log....

Oh, and another thing that I have noticed since all of this has been happening is the touchpad on my computer isn't working anymore. Not the main one, where you have the cursor and can grab stuff with, but the little shiney, silver one at the bottom of it. The one where you can scroll down on the page, or over or up....I don't know if it's anything to it, but I have no idea on how to make it start working again. Any suggestions?

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop.

• Close all other windows before proceeding.
• Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
• Please let your firewall allow the scanning/downloading process.
• When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

If you are using Vista, you need to right-click at dss.exe icon and choose Run as Administrator
