Hello waynf

Only ever have 1 anti virus installed as these will cause conflicts and fight each other. Decide which one you like best and removal the other one :) AVG Free is perfectly fine

Well I removed AVira from system before I downloaded AVG Free Edition 8.1 xxx but AVG is now periodically advising me of ToolAX unwanted file, but when I do a self-ativated scan, no threats are identified.

Are you sure ToolAX is an Avira file?

Go to "programs" on C: and manually delete Avira folder. If not successful, run a search for the program and see where it is located.

A single antivirus is not sufficient to keep a computer clean. Do not add another antivirus but consider installing another one or two antispyware programs that you update and run manually. I run, periodically, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy (installed without the "TeaTimer") and Spyware Termonator.

If the problem persist go to the malware forum of G2G (a link in my list below).
