My computer screen turns black and blinks and freezes

Recently there has been something wrong with my computer. After I turn it on, 1 minute or even less goes by and my screen turns black and blinks and then comes back. It repeats a couple of times, and after that, while I have the computer on it doesn't happen again. Also the computer may freeze, the mouse will not move. Once in a while I open my Firefox browser and all my bookmarks are gone! I restore them from the backup, and couple of days later, they are gone again!
Any idea on what is happening?
