I have spent about 5 hours straight trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with my computer and I'm on the verge of tears at this point.

I was not having any problems with my computer yesterday. I shut it down last night and started it up upon my return from work this morning. And then the problems started. There are a few problems:

1) McAfee said I wasn't fully protected, as parts of the protection "unexpectedly shut down." When I clicked on "Fix," I'd get an error saying "One or more problems cannot be fixed beccause of an error." I tried uninstalling the entire suite and reinstalling, but when I try to reinstall I get an error saying there is a problem copying McProxy.inf to the disk. This occurs whether I use the reinstall disk provided with my comp or reinstall using McAfee's website.

2) Each time I reboot, I get messages saying certain files are corrupt. They pop up in the lower-right of the screen by the clock. They fade away after a while, but I tried to write down as many of these file names as possible. Some of them are: hpqtra08.exe, ituneshelper.exe, sprtcmd.exe. These messages say to run Chkdsk, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

3) Each time I reboot, I get a Windows Installer pop-up and a message saying that the file related to hpproductassistant is on a disk...but I have no idea what this means.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help. I can't stand not having any protection, since McAfee won't install properly.

Thanks,
Marissa
