I might not get any replies here... but I just hope a kind soul will just peep in here and be able to help me..

I just got an iPod Touch and to use it I need to install iTunes. Unfortunately halfway through the iTunes installation.........

... the Bonjour Service fails to start.

I tried to start it up through services.msc but to my horror, I found this:

Error 1058: Cannot start because it has been disabled or nothing is
assiciated with it.

I dunno what's wrong with this..

Please, I hope a kind soul can assist me on this. Thank you in advance. :)

well we could try a complete uninstall and reinstall of itunes or you can try reinstalling bonjour:

Uninstall and reinstall

If none of the items described above are present after you've installed Bonjour, try uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

1. Go to the Control Panel and click on Add or Remove Programs.
2. Select Bonjour from the list.
3. Click Change/Remove.
4. Choose Remove, then follow the onscreen instructions.
5. Reinstall Bonjour for Windows from the Apple website, or the media on which it was supplied to you.

I installed Itunes a while back, then when I got fed up with Bonjour kicking off my firewall protection every other minute, I uninstalled Bonjour. Now, there's a need for the service again, but I can't get it to work or install. Itunes says a fresh reinstall of Itunes is needed. But i've actually Done that, a couple times with iTunes 7.7, and Bonjour still does not appear. I almost wonder if it is no longer included in the newest iTunes download file.

I tried the link supplied above to reinstall Bonjour directly, and when I download either the original, or the one compatible for Windows XP, it doesn't want to install. The one compatible for Windows XP says that it needs to be opened with an application, then asks me to choose one. I have no idea what application it could be meaning, since it is an .exe file, which I thought opened themselves. If I try just having it open itself, it says that Bonjour64Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I'm so confused. I hope someone can tell me why the .exe file won't open at the very least.

Thanks.

Kelvin

this is the fix if you get the error bonjour service failed to start when installing Itunes or just the bonjour service.
When you receive the error do not click retry or cancel leave the setup running and the error msg open then go to start --> RUN, Type in services.msc when then find the bonjour service in the list and right click and go to properties. Go to tht e Logon tap and enable the hardware profile for this service and click apply. Go back to the error msg and click retry and it should install the service.

Rayyna, please start a new thread. This will make things less likely to become confusing. As well, you will probably receive faster help.
