I have not been able to reach the bottom of this problem I have had it with a few computers.
Sometimes it because the hard drive is not responding properly and it is dying. Some times the power supply is not stable enough then you need a new power supply. There are a few times that you change the bios batt but this usually is not the problem unless your bios does not keep the time.
For starters I would go into the bios and manually define/detect the hard drive.
Tell us more specs about the computer so that we can help more.
