Hi
Symantec AV corporate found Trojan.Pandex virus after connecting to Internet. However, SAV is finding the virus every time I am connection to Internet. I have followed Symantec instruction and deleted from registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Ip6fw but the virus still alive (the following subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Runtime do not exist), than scanned in safe mode Dr.WebCureIt which found Trojan.Download.2077 and deleted it. However, problem persists. Could you help me please.

Thanks
David

Hi and welcome to the forums.

Please download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Double click on SDFix.exe. It should automatically extract a folder called SDFix to your system drive (usually C:\). Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the SDFix folder and double click on RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y and press Enter to begin the script.
  • It will start cleaning your PC and then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any key to restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer than normal to restart as the fixtool will be removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished.
  • Press any key to end the script and to load your desktop icons.
  • A text file should automatically open, so please copy the contents and post them here. We also need you to post a new HijackThis log

Hi,

Looks better, at least it removed the one entry in HJT that I saw. Let's do a couple scans, and let me know how you're making out.

First, use Use ATF Cleaner to remove temp files,
cookies, cache, ect...

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a Hijackthis log.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lets run an F-Secure online scan for Viruses, Spyware and RootKits:
  • Go to http://support.f-sec.../home/ols.shtml
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start scanning button. A window will pop up.
  • Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then click the Accept button
  • Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download and the scan to complete.
  • If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then select Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel, then New Scan
  • When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples to F-Secure
  • Click Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
Notes:
  • This scan will only work with Internet Explorer
  • You must have administrator rights to run this scan
  • This scan can take several hours, so please be patient
Post a new HijackThis log and let me know how you're making out.
Hi,
Glad to hear it's running better, and the scans are clean so I think we're in pretty good shape here. Question though...
Is this PC part of a domain network? Do you know what the following services are for? I cannot find much on them and wonder if they are part of a "custom" set up on a domain, or if they are leftover malware.
O23 - Service: Application Management AppMgmtSharedAccess (AppMgmtSharedAccess) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\
O23 - Service: Server lanmanserverRemoteRegistry (lanmanserverRemoteRegistry) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\
O23 - Service: Messenger MessengerSENS (MessengerSENS) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\
OK good enough. We will take them out.
Please copy (Ctrl C) and paste (Ctrl V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as "All Files" and name it FixServices.bat. Please save it on your desktop.
@echo off
sc stop AppMgmtSharedAccess
sc delete AppMgmtSharedAccess
sc stop lanmanserverRemoteRegistry
sc delete lanmanserverRemoteRegistry
sc stop MessengerSENS
sc delete MessengerSENS
sc stop PolicyAgentProtectedStorage
sc delete PolicyAgentProtectedStorage
sc stop SamSsaspnet_state
sc delete SamSsaspnet_state
sc stop SamSsaspnet_stateccSetMgr
sc delete SamSsaspnet_stateccSetMgr
sc stop SamSsmnmsrvc
sc delete SamSsmnmsrvc
sc stop ScheduleWZCSVC
sc delete ScheduleWZCSVC
sc stop SPBBCSvcNla
sc delete SPBBCSvcNla
sc stop srserviceShellHWDetection
sc delete srserviceShellHWDetection
sc stop wuauservSchedule
sc delete wuauservSchedule
del /q Fixservices.bat
exit
Double click FixServices.bat. A window may appear to open and close. This is normal.
Run HijackThis. Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these if they are present:
O23 - Service: Application Management AppMgmtSharedAccess (AppMgmtSharedAccess) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\
O23 - Service: Server lanmanserverRemoteRegistry (lanmanserverRemoteRegistry) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\
All clear now :) Think we're good to go here. Just some final cleanup and a few words of "wisdom".
Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which may be infected anyway).
Click Start>Help and Support>Undo changes to your computer with System Restore
Select Create A Restore Point then click Next. Give it a name it and then click Create
Click Start>Run and type Cleanmgr
Click the More Options Tab.
Click Clean Up in the System Restore section.
You have pretty good protection with Symantec/Norton in place, but you may want to consider some other free tools:
Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Spybot: Search And Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers
Install Ad-Aware - Ad-Aware SE You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer
Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware
Install SpywareGuard - SpywareGuard provides a real-time protection solution against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareGuard to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware
Use Zoned Out -
Zoned Out will block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email. Instructions for set up and use can be found at the website.
Update all of your Anti-Malware programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed and the ones you are currently running regularly. Without regular updates you Will Not be protected when new malicious programs are released.
I'll leave the thread open a couple days in case you have any questions or further issues.
Regards,
Dave
