Ok, this is weird. I have been using Thunderbird for a long time with no issues. Suddenly last Friday I started having a problem.

When I click on get messages, it connects to the server then says downloading message 1 of X (however many there are at that time), then it just sits there for about 2 minutes and then a box pops up that says "Connection to server mail.xxxx.com timed out.

I can get the mail from this server via webmail, but that is very inconvenient.

I know my server settings and password are correct.

T-bird works fine for my other email accounts. It is just this one mail server.

I have reinstalled T-bird.....same thing.

I set up a new email account in T-bird, and it downloaded the messages up until last Friday, then same error.

Is this something on the mail server end?

This is more likely an issue with the people who host the email server. Have you contacted them?
