Yesterday, I noticed my desktop background had a warning embedded in it about this virus. I reviewed a lot of the posts here for those having similar problems. I tried on my own to rid myself of, what I believe to be, this pesky virus, but I think I still have some suspicious files. If I run HiJackThis WITHOUT being connected to the internet, I get a clean analysis (from Hijackthis.de), but when I connect to the internet and re-run HiJackThis (analysis from Hijackthis.de), I notice a peculiar file that re-appears (after several attempt to rid it with HiJackThis). I tried to follow the instructions in the "before you post your HJT log file", but all pages to download programs say "page not found" in IE & FireFox won't load on my PC. I'm really really worried!

The file is: O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{D5C5CEFF-5835-4E3B-918B-D5D69FE010DE}: NameServer = 209.244.0.3 209.244.0.4

Also included below is my entire HiJackThis log file. I really would appreciate someone's experience to solve this for good. And, to note, I'm on (groan) dial-up (using PeoplePC as ISP), so downloading programs is a horribly long task for me. However, in reading other posts and recommendations from you pros, I went to a high-speed connection and downloaded the following to disk so I could apply them to my PC quickly if needed (AdbeRdr90_en_US, ComboFix, ie-spyad, jre-6u7-windows-i586-p-s, OTMoveIt2, spywareblastersetup41, spywareguardsetup, SUPERAntiSpyware, and will download zaSetup_en when I can get to a high-speed area again this week).

I hope my PC is still able to be saved and thank you pros, in advance, for your expert advice.
Please help! I fear my security in all areas is really under attack! I couldn't even use your uploader to attach the HJT log....IE crashed when I tried. Thank you!

Hey fite2be,

Your logs don't seem to show any infection, let's do the following:

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
