We are using a Dell Inspiron laptop, operating with Windows Vista. The CPU usage is always at 100% and the Physical Memory used is abotu 50%. The CPU Usage fluctuates as to what is being used most between iexplore.exe, explore.exe and tskmgr.exe. Slightly less usage is atributed to dwm.exe, navw32.exe. We are using Norton Antivirus and Ad-Aware. If anyone knows of a way we can get this baby back to normal, it would be a huge help. If further information is needed, please tell us where to find it and we can provide whatever will help. Thanks. - BigFly

Download Process Explorer. You'll see which program is hogging the most resources:

It looks like the major culprit is System Idle Process which fluctuates between 40% and 90%. I attached the report if that helps.

That's normal on quite a few Vista machines.

I saw this and thought I would try it. My System Idle Process stays around 95-99% even 100% for short times.

Isn't that good because the processor is at idle?

Makes it sound like its not ok to be close to 100%, can someone clerify that please.
